B-Site Cation Ordering in Films, Superlattices, and Layer-by-Layer-Grown Double Perovskites

The preparation of cation-ordered thin films correlated oxides is great interest for both fundamental and applied research. scientific long-term vision strongly motivated by the perspective studying electronic correlations in condensed matter without presence chemical or quenched disorder. A promising material platform provides double perovskite A2BB’O6 bulk samples with different types B/B’ ordering. However, growth A- and/or B-site-ordered oxide known to be a challenging task. In this review, we evaluate means well-elaborated physical vacuum deposition techniques, such as pulsed laser (PLD) sputtering compare them close-to-equilibrium metalorganic aerosol (MAD) technique. latter was further developed grow an emergent interfacial phase LaNiO3/LaMnO3 superlattices, finally, way layer-by-layer route. La2CoMnO6 on SrTiO3(111) substrates sequential single layers LaCoO3/LaMnO3/LaCoO3/… demonstrated film properties were compared those obtained within state-of-the art mode.
